One of the most important bits of advice for divorce is that your children must know, and understand what is really going on. And they also must know that you love them and that is not going to change. Children don't understand the concept of their mommy and daddy not being together anymore because that is what they know. That is how they were brought up and they have no idea about relationships and break ups, etc. All they know is that you are their two parents and that is how it is.
In the even that you are getting a divorce, your children may think that they are somehow involved, responsible or are also being divorced in a way, which is definitely not the case. A child may feel responsible for an entire divorce just based on something they might have said or done at one point in time that you may not even remember. But, it is natural and many kids blame themselves for not being able to prevent their parents break up.
The most important advice for divorce again, is to make sure that your children know that you love them, and that their mother/father loves them as well. They need to know that even though you are splitting up, your love for them does not change or become affected in any way. Sometimes in life, two people 'fall out of love' and still 'love' each other, but it doesn't make sense to stay married anymore. This is perhaps the best explanation you can give children when it comes to giving your kids advice for divorce.
As far as additional advice for divorce goes; the best place to seek it out would be the world wide web. This is the information superhighway and anything you want to know, you can look it up online. There are plenty of websites, forums and message boards that give excellent advice for divorce and divorced people.
Just make sure you go into it with a clear, rational, aware, open and logical mind so that you can ensure the best possible experience -- even though you are going through a divorce. Also, don't fall for a scam on the internet either, always make sure you are dealing with a reputable site by doing a simple search on them via Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. Yes, even sites that give away advice for divorce can be a scam of some kind. It's rare but it exists. Either way, I wish you the best of luck and I am sorry about your divorce.
