When you get divorced, you will definitely feel a little bit depressed. Getting divorced is like severing a part of you that you have grown used to having around. It could take you a while to get over that. However, if you find yourself doing one or any of the following things following a divorce, then you need help and fast!

 

• Drinking: It’s quite common to see divorced people loitering around in a bar, nursing several bottles of drinks and telling anyone who cares to listen about their woes in a divorce. If you find yourself drinking more than you should after a divorce, you should seek help.

 

• Abusing drugs: Drug abuse is not the way to handle the emotional effects of a divorce. You may start taking an overdose of your sleeping pills or back ache pills in order to numb the pain. In reality, you will only be aggravating your state and setting yourself up for a big fall.

 

• Eating: Eating is good, but eating to comfort yourself isn’t. if you find yourself nibbling on junk

throughout the whole day, you need to shake yourself up and get out of your funk.

 

• Relationship: Going on the rebound is a sign that you are not handling your divorce well. If you fall into the arms of the next man or woman that comes along, you will be using them to deaden your pain and that doesn’t really make you a nice person, does it?

 

• Moping: Looking unkempt and keeping an unkept house is an indication that you don’t have a firm grip on your feelings. You need to move on and avoid staying in one spot with all the negative emotions for too long.

 

• Isolation: Cutting yourself off from civilization can be a big mistake if you are with friends or someone who cares but going into your shell alone can also be dangerous.

 

• Negative thoughts: If you discover that you think suicidal thoughts all the time, you should think about seeking help. Once you do not have control over any negative thought that you have, you may do something stupid. The best way to avoid all this is to stay close to your friends as often as possible and open up.
